Old friend

I had a bit of a moment as I sat with this old Beech and all it's broken limbs. I looked and saw that it had lost some big old branches in it's time. Perhaps it had put too much energy in to that branch and under it's own weight, broke. Or, as time went by other trees nearby grew, blocking out the light and making the limb obsolete. This tree has suffered great loss, and still it grows tall and strong, onwards and upwards in to the sunshine. Such a beautiful metaphor for life.

Pastel paintings come securely packaged. Covered with a sheet of glassine paper and sandwiched between foamboard for protection.
